Seminar 1: The
fundamentals of risk management for school trusts
The first seminar will explore:
- Risk in schools: context and capacity.
- The concept and purpose of controls to
mitigate risk and assurance.
- Best use of the executive, internal audit,
external audit and governance in a risk assurance system.
- A guide to the work of the audit and risk committee function.
Seminar 2: A
strategic approach to risk management
The second seminar will consider:
- How strategic and operational risk are
managed.
- How strategic risk considerations can improve
decision-making.
- Establishing your trust’s risk appetite.
- Thinking about opportunity.
- Resetting risk management at your trust to
enable a more strategic approach.
Seminar 3: Effective
controls to manage risk
The third seminar will involve:
- Mapping the control of risk in a board assurance framework by working in breakout groups, exploring a worked example
showing the interplay of risk identification, control and overall evaluation
and assurance of mitigations.
- Implementing what you have learnt by sharing
the current practice in risk assurance at your trust.
