National Teacher Accreditation

National Teacher Accreditation ceased to trade on 31 August 2024 following 11 years of serving the state education sector as an Appropriate Body (AB), due to changes to teacher training arrangements nationally.

Part of the Confederation of School Trusts family, NTA was responsible for quality assuring the induction of early career teachers within schools and trusts. Set up in 2013 at the request of the Department for Education with the aim of introducing a new sector-led AB into the system, NTA grew from a small pilot project to being one of the largest and most highly respected ABs in the country. At its peak NTA oversaw the induction of over 1,800 new teachers across more than 500 schools nationally, working in partnership with schools and trusts of all sizes and across all phases.

As an established high-quality provider of this important service NTA became the "go-to” organisation, setting the standard and demonstrating good practice for the induction process. NTA was proud to work closely with colleagues from the DfE and the Teaching School Hub Council in the transition to new training arrangements, offering our input to policy thinking and seeking to pass on our specialist skills and knowledge and help to support the sector. We believe that this work has resulted in NTA leaving a lasting legacy, ensuring that the team’s wealth of knowledge and experience has been passed on and has not been lost to the system.
