Checking the progress of your governance development plan
External reviews of governance (ERGs) are are important first-step in assessing and improving your trust's approach to governance - but the real value comes in the implementation.
CST can provide help through a progress check, helping to ensure that your trust is reaping the benefits of the review. We recommend this review takes place around one year after the board has accepted the ERG, but we can provide support at any stage.
Our progress checks explore how successfully your trust is implementing its governance development plan through interviews, an analysis of progress vs ERG recommendations and, where appropriate, a comparative analysis of survey outcomes. This independent assessment can catalyse further action by identifying what progress has been made, what has not and why, impediments to progress that the board needs to address or consider how new circumstances in the trust may be reflected in your action plan.
Progress checks typically take around three days and will provide you with a detailed written report that will signpost resources and set out practical recommendations for your next steps.
The process proved to be invaluable, offering all layers of our governance essential insights into how we can further improve and develop as a group. I would highly recommend the services offered through the CST, both governance review and the facilitation service. They both feature in our trust development plans!
