Membership Manager
Location: Remote with national travel for meetings and events
Salary: £40,391 with progression to £47,681 per annum
Reports to: Director of Membership

The role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Membership Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will support the Director of Membership to ensure our members receive exceptional value and an outstanding experience. You will lead on managing member engagement, overseeing the annual renewal strategy, and the member communication strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the member journey, fostering regional engagement, and contributing to the growth and success of CST.
Key Responsibilities
- Member Engagement and Communications
- Oversee the member enquiry processes, ensuring timely and effective responses.
- Create and deliver engaging and impactful communications that inform, inspire, and retain members.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure all member communications reflect CST’s style and values.
- Harness member data and metrics to inform engagement strategies, focusing on proactively engaging members across the sector.
- Membership Operations and Renewals
- Develop and execute the annual membership renewal strategy to achieve retention and growth targets.
- Lead the operational delivery of the renewal process, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records in line with GDPR regulations.
- Lead on member only events including Agile Seminars ensuring all events add value and are delivered in a timely and professional manner.
- Regional Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with members across different regions, fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration.
- Facilitate regional engagement with senior CST representatives to gather insights into member needs and improve engagement at a regional level.
- Identify opportunities to enhance regional engagement and membership development.
- Member Journey and Experience
- Continuously review and refine the member journey, ensuring it delivers an outstanding experience from onboarding to renewal.
- Work closely with the Director of Membership to implement initiatives that enhance member satisfaction and retention.
- Monitor and analyse membership data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
In addition to the above, the postholder will be required to carry out additional tasks as requested by the Director of Membership to support departmental and organisational objectives.
Person specification
Essential skills and experience
- Proven experience in a relationship or membership management role or a similar position.
- Strong understanding of engagement strategies and operational processes.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in using CRM systems and membership management tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with members and stakeholders.
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience supporting professional communities or member networks.
- Familiarity with the education sector or working with school trusts.
- A track record of delivering successful regional engagement initiatives.
