Overview

This CST masterclass will develop your understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), its role in education  and strategic application in education leadership.

The course shows how AI can be used to transform education, whilst examining the opportunities and threats AI presents, including ethical dilemmas and security risks. It will enable you to facilitate conversations around what AI means for your trust. It will explore real examples where AI has been successfully implemented in school trusts, examining some of the challenges trusts face and how AI solutions addressed these issues. It will also guide you in strategic planning for integrating AI into operations and educational models.

Course outline

Session 1: AI essentials: Understanding the core of artificial intelligence 
 
The first session will unveil the fundamentals of AI, discover its diverse applications, and explore emerging trends shaping the future of technology.  It will explore:
  • Foundational knowledge: The basic principles and workings of AI, demystifying common misconceptions. 
  • Real-world relevance: Examples of AI in education, emphasising its impact and relevance. 
  • Emerging trends: The opportunity to discuss the latest trends in AI development and their potential influence on the future of technology and education. 
 
Session 2: AI horizons: Envisioning the future of AI in education 
 
The second session will consider AI's transformative power in education, balance opportunities with risks, and strategise its ethical and secure implementation. It will explore:
  • Possibilities: Investigate the transformative potential of AI in education and beyond. 
  • Risk and opportunity balance: Understand the opportunities and threats AI presents, including ethical dilemmas and security risks. 
  • Strategic implementation: Discuss strategies for integrating AI in educational environments responsibly and effectively. 
Session 3: AI in action: Exploring AI use cases with trust leaders

The third session will:
  • Delve into real-world examples where AI has been successfully implemented in school trusts, including James Browning (AET) and Ash Mudaliar (Creative)
  • Analyse some specific challenges faced by school trusts and how AI solutions addressed these issues.
  • Guide you as trust leaders in developing strategic plans for integrating AI into your operations and educational models.
