Seminar 1: Getting to grips with School Trust governance
– with a spotlight on members and the Trust Board
The first seminar will explore:
- An overview of the governance structures of School Trusts.
- Different governance stakeholders and how
they work together effectively, including:
- Members
as the Guardians of Trust Governance
- The
Trust Board and their role as Trustees and Directors
- The role
of the Executive
- The role
of the Governance Professional
- The Trust Board in action – working
effectively with the other governance layers, the Chair and Vice Chair of the
Board.
Seminar 2: Board committees - with a spotlight
on local governance
The second seminar will consider:
- Approaches to the setting and review of delegations to
committees and to the local layer of governance.
- Spotlight on local governance, including an
overview of on alternative structures.
- A case study of one Trust’s experience of
developing and implementing their local governance model.
Seminar 3: Delegations – with a spotlight on the Scheme of Delegation at the heart of Trust governance
The final seminar will cover:
- The importance of the Scheme of Delegation in
ensuring effective governance.
- Ensuring that the SOD sits at the heart of
your Trust’s governance.
- Consideration of makes an effective scheme of
delegation.
- A framework for review and approaches to
redraw responsibilities.
- Effective communication and reporting across
the governance layers.
