How we help
At GovernorHub we live and breathe school and trust governance, with many employees
also members of school and trust governing boards. We work with more than half of
schools in England and more than 600 multi-academy trusts to support effective
governance, but more widely we’re keen to champion and celebrate the often overlooked
role of governors, trustees, clerks and governance professionals.
We do this by projects like these:
- Publishing surveys and reports: including our latest report "The Trust Governance
Professional”, where we speak to 119 senior trust governance professionals, and
explore this fairly new and still-evolving position. We call for all of those working at
the most senior governance level in trusts to have a seat on the trust central
executive team.
- Pay benchmarking research: "Women’s Work”, released on International Women’s
Day 2023, investigates the salaries and working patterns of 1,298 clerks and
governance professionals. It aims to support the ongoing professionalisation of the
role and to encourage fair pay for the skills and knowledge required at each level.
- Careers for governance professionals website: supports current and aspiring
governance professionals to get the most out of their careers, but also teaches
governing boards and employers in schools, trusts and service providers more
about the profession
- School governance sector survey: ‘The missing pool of talent on school governing
boards’ uncovered how much (or little) the average person knows about school
governance and investigated the diversity of our boards
- Diversity data tracking for trusts - as part of our commitment to broadening the pool
of talent on school and trust governing boards, we’re soon to launch diversity data
tracking and reporting for boards.
