Progress Teaching Limited

Who we are

We’re passionate about making sure all children get an excellent education and ensuring that those who are most vulnerable don’t get left behind. We are the only teaching improvement platform. We bring teacher development, pupil attainment and parent communication into a centralised place.

Great teachers are fundamental to a great education. Great teaching is no accident. It comes from a culture of regular, focused feedback and well-planned CPD.

The ProgressTeaching teaching improvement platform was founded by Peter Hughes, CEO of the Mossbourne Federation and author of ‘Outstanding School Leadership’. He did this because he wanted to give his team the tools they needed to be great teachers.

Before creating the ProgressTeaching platform, Peter realised that staff weren't able to act and make decisions quickly because the information they needed was held in lots of different places.

Peter was determined to improve teaching. He built a platform that would put data and actionable insights at his staff’s fingertips.

Today Peter’s schools use ProgressTeaching daily. It informs everything they do to improve the quality of teaching and learning – from creating roadmaps for CPD and recording feedback from lesson observations, to planning targeted interventions and engaging with parents.

The ProgressTeaching teaching improvement platform has been such a success at the Mossbourne Federation that it is now being used at schools and trusts throughout the country:

"The power of simplifying these systems to have any data collected and collated at its single point of entry and then accessible by all of those audiences is life changing. We have already saved 100s of hours by working in this way and made ourselves much more evidence based in the process knowing that when we do find the bright spots and green shoots in our data, they really are there, understood by everyone and easily and quickly shared.” Louise Lee, CEO, The Howard Partnership Trust.

Our one-of-a-kind trust dashboard – Vision – integrates seamlessly with the ProgressTeaching platform. It instantly shows you what the quality of teaching is like across your trust.

ProgressTeaching Vision eliminates those time-consuming meetings where you’re chasing up information – everything that you need to understand what’s going on at each of your schools is ready to view at the exact moment you want it, so you can quickly answer the important questions such as:

  • What is the quality of teaching like across my trust?
  • What are the improvement areas at each of my schools?
  • Which school is performing the best, and which needs more support?
  • Which school is displaying real strength in a particular area of practice?
  • Which of my teachers are excelling and helping to raise the quality of teaching across my trust?
  • How many of my teachers are meeting standards?
  • What are my pupil attendance and exclusion trends?
  • How effective is my pupil attendance strategy?

What we do

ProgressTeaching improves teaching for better pupil outcomes. We bring together all the data you need about the teachers and pupils in your care.

ProgressTeaching is a modular platform that can be tailored to your unique requirements:

MAT Dashboard – Vision
  • Instantly understand pupil attainment, quality of teaching, and attendance and exclusion data across your trust.
  • Give your leaders instant access to the reports that they need for meetings such as Governors, Ofsted, and SLT meetings.
  • Our reports also provide actionable insights for pastoral leads, attendance officers and phase leaders.
Feedback and Action Steps
  • Cultivate a positive attitude towards professional growth and analyse teacher development trends on a department, school-wide, or trust-wide basis. ProgressTeaching Feedback records your school's quality of teaching and learning through drop-ins, coaching, book looks, deep dives, subject reviews, or similar.
  • Set customisable Action Steps based on your schools unique improvement plan and quickly see which habits teachers are working on and if they are getting the feedback they need to progress.
Appraisals
  • Reflect and promote a natural management style. Our appraisals are a 'living document' which can be updated over the year by teachers and managers to reflect progress against career development targets.
Progress
  • Get a clear picture of pupil progress at year group, subject, class, and individual pupil level so you can quickly identify trends and share best practices across your trust. View your pupil progress data alongside teacher observations to make informed decisions about how to improve your quality of teaching for better pupil outcomes.
  • ProgressTeaching connects directly to your school's MIS so data only needs to be input once – reducing time, cost, and the potential for error.
  • The Progress module also allows you to track the impact of your curriculum by effortlessly recording and analysing formative assessments for all groups and terms – gaining vital insights into pupil progress.
Seating plans
  • Our drag-and-drop seating plans show live pupil data in 4 or 8 tiles depending on the level of information you require.
  • Replicate seating plans that work in different classrooms, print them for observers or substitute teachers, and filter them by key groups such as gender, pupil premium, SEND status, attainment and more – allowing you to quickly understand a class setup.
Student Strategies
  • Save your teachers valuable time by removing paper-based processes. Student strategies takes important information out of ring binders and puts it in front of the people who need to see it. Files can also be attached to strategies to provide extra information or context.
Behaviour
  • Record rewards, incidents and sanctions, and easily assign and notify all the relevant people.
  • ProgressTeaching Behaviour is highly configurable, providing a bespoke service with useful reporting.
Parent
  • ProgressTeaching Parent is a configurable mobile-responsive online portal that works on any device. Connect parents with the information that matters to them, track engagement, collate reply slips automatically, and collect parent choices for options and extracurriculars.
  • With reusable templates and easy-to-use placeholders, ProgressTeaching Parent allows teachers to save time on admin and focus on improving outcomes for pupils.

How we help

We work closely with our clients to constantly develop our platform based on their feedback – so they get exactly what they want from it, when they need it:

"ProgressTeaching develops things with us. That’s the beauty of you guys rather than others that show the shiny thing, but you can’t change it. The fluidity of your development team for a trust allows us to make the platform more relevant to our requirements. ProgressTeaching evolves the tool with us" Kim Kemp, Head of Quality Assurance at IFtL.

Our trust and school-level demographic reports in Vision have been developed in close collaboration with IFtL and have already saved them hours of valuable time. These reports are available to everyone using the ProgressTeaching platform as are the numerous other platform developments that are continually implemented based on client requirements.

The news and resources page on our website has lots of helpful content such as:

Many schools collaborate after attending our webinars to develop aspects discussed such as their teaching rubric and KS3 assessment model. ProgressTeaching is more than just a platform – it’s a community. We connect our clients to other trust leaders so they can learn from each other and share best practices.
