Nick successfully led Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), one of England’s most well-established academy trusts, for six years.
He is proud to have led OAT through a significant period of growth and improvement. OAT now has primary, secondary, special and alternative provision academies and is the country’s second largest secondary trust. OAT’s schools serve some of the country’s most deprived communities in a variety of contexts, including urban and coastal, with a workforce of over 5,000 people.
During his career, Nick has held a variety of leadership positions in schools, local authorities and at Ofsted. His values-led approach to trust development is underpinned by a firm belief that schools, and groups of schools, should be rooted in their communities, anchored by strong purposeful leadership.
Nick has been involved in governmental bodies contributing to the development of education policy and improving practice. He is known as a collaborative CEO who has constructively contributed to many cross-sector partnerships, working with other trusts to support and develop their practice and providing mentoring and professional support to individual CEOs. Nick is currently a trustee of a small local trust and has previously served as a school governor and chair of governors.
