Independent guidance for effective performance management
Executive performance management is one of the board’s most significant responsibilities. Effective performance review enables the board and the executive leader to develop clear objectives that align with the trust’s strategic priorities, agree how they will be measured and define what good looks like. This creates a framework for the chair’s work with the executive leader across the year to hold them accountable for achieving these goals and provide the ongoing support that will help them to succeed.
School trusts have the freedom to define their own appraisal process for executive leaders in line with their ethos, values, and approach to performance management. CST can support you in the development and delivery of your trust’s process, drawing upon our deep understanding of the executive role, as defined in our guidance, the Core responsibilities of a school trust CEO. At key times in your trust’s development, such as managing the transition from Executive Head to CEO, where a new leader or chair are approaching the process for the first time, or pre- or post-merger, independent expert support will help you to navigate the process effectively and authentically, ensuring the best outcomes for the individual and the organisation.
Mid-year check-ins on performance towards objectives are also available by arrangement.
