About James Down
James is Head of Safeguarding for Brooke Weston Trust, a member of the Steering Committee for the National Association of Academy Safeguarding Advisors and multi academy trust representative on the Safeguarding in Education Subgroup within the Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Partnership. Prior to this, James worked as an assistant principal and designated safeguarding lead within a large secondary academy.
During his career, James has worked across the safeguarding partnership, including policing, probation and within strategic safeguarding partnerships. James has previously worked as an independent trainer and safeguarding consultant and as an honorary research associate at the University of Chester, publishing research relating to childhood bullying and online safety. James is the former Chair of the Milton Keynes Secondary Safeguarding Lead Forum, and previously represented education on the prevent, learning and development, risk, and assurance Boards within the Safeguarding Children Partnership.
