Who we are

Trust Governance Professionals is an organisation on a mission to support academy trust governance professionals through training, resources and access to a nation-wide online community. We were established by a three leading academy governance professionals motivated by the knowledge that the governance role in academy trusts is unique, multi-faceted and broad-ranging.

We have experience of directly delivering academy governance in Trusts of all sizes and across the full range of aspects of this role – from board and committee support to local governance, risk, compliance, policies, admissions, exclusions, data protection, and freedom of information. We leverage this in-depth knowledge of the demands and complexities of the role in order to provide expert support to the sector by developing governance professionals across the country.

Our flagship programme is Trust Governance Insight, which offers training, resources, tailored one-to-one advice and access to a community of fantastic governance professionals.

How we help

Working with and raising the profile of the governance professional is at the heart of our organisation’s mission and values. We achieve this through our work with our community of governance professionals and work with sector partners. Leveraging our understanding of the role and work of the governance professional in our sector in order to raise the profile and understanding of the role is at the core of our mission.

As an organisation, we are led by our values of sharing and support, and this drives everything we do.

We are grateful to have received a number of testimonials from our group that show the value of our support:

‘Trust Governance Insight (TGI) is an invaluable source of expertise, information and support within governance of academy trusts across the country. I have attended several governor training programmes and access a wide variety of resources and tools online, but TGI deliver to level above all other I have experienced.’

‘The tools, content and information sharing is always current, helpful and fit for purpose, eclipsed only by the training sessions and support that demonstrate a remarkable understanding and intuition for the current issues facing Governance Professionals within academy trust. The way TGP are professionalising our sector is exceptional.’

‘Being a Governance Professional is such a misunderstood role, and we all have different responsibilities but knowing that they, and the other governance professionals on the programme, are there to offer advice and support is so very very welcome.’

‘I would whole-heartedly recommend TGI to all Governance professionals and Trusts.’

‘Creating a 'community' remotely is no mean feat and the programme is very skilfully doing just that.’
