CST welcomes new appointments to key sector bodies

Changes to key personnel are taking place at Ofqual and the Department for Education.

Leora Cruddas, Chief Executive of CST said: "Sally Collier has been Chief Regulator in one of the most difficult and uncertain periods in recent history. All education leaders have experienced leadership challenges during the global pandemic. I would like to thank Sally for working tirelessly in her role and understand why she has made the decision to step down.

"CST welcomes Dame Glenys Stacey as interim Chief Regulator and Amanda Spielman as Chair of the new Ofqual committee. They are exceptionally qualified for these roles and we offer them our support in their endeavours to meet the challenges.

"I would also like to welcome Susan Acland-Hood as the DfE’s second Permanent Secretary, the most senior civil servant who is going to work on exams and qualifications.

"All of us need to work together now in the spirit of openness and transparency to ensure that we rebuild public confidence and find solutions that protect equity and fairness for students. This will not be easy. The challenges are significant. But together we can find the way forward.”
