Leora Cruddas, chief executive of CST said: “The uncertainty around this year’s results has been extremely hard for students, schools and trusts. It is right that the Ofqual has moved to end this uncertainty by awarding GCSEs based on the centre assessment grade.
"Teachers in schools and trusts followed a rigorous process, put in place by the exams regulator Ofqual, to arrive at the centre assessment grade. I would like to thank teachers and leaders for their professionalism, integrity and hard work. They have gone the extra mile in undertaking this challenging exercise in the context of the global pandemic.
"The decision has been made and the task now is to ensure that young people go on to the right destinations, be that university, college, apprenticeship or employment. We must also work together to ensure that next year’s students are treated fairly. No young person’s life chances should be affected by this pandemic.”
