Statement on changes to the Education and Skills Funding Agency

The Government has today announced that the Education and Skills Funding Agency will close, with functions being transferred to the Department for Education.

Confederation of School Trusts Chief Executive Leora Cruddas CBE said: "The Education and Skills Funding Agency has played a really important role in the system, including the trust sector trust, and we would like to thank ESFA colleagues for everything they have done and the way they have worked with us.

"In relation to this announcement, CST has long called for a single regulator. We believe this is an opportunity to strengthen regulation by bringing the different regulatory functions of the ESFA and Department for Education Regions Group together.”
