Sir Hamid Patel said: "I am grateful for the opportunity to serve CST and its members as Chair of its board. You have my absolute commitment to represent the interests of all trusts, of all sizes and in all geographies in England.
"CST has grown exponentially to become a well-regarded national organisation representing the majority of the trust sector. As an established point of reference for trusts, policy makers and regulatory bodies, we influence national policy and young people’s life chances on your behalf.
"Alongside positioning ourselves for the future, we will continue to deliver quality services for our members: our power and credibility comes from you. It will be a privilege to serve you alongside the rest of the board and the CST team.”
CST Chief Executive Leora Cruddas CBE said: "In Sir Hamid, CST has a strong chair and person of considerable influence across the whole sector, including with policy makers and regulators. His commitment to the trust sector is unquestionable.
"I am very much looking forward to working with Sir Hamid and the whole of the CST board, to continue to serve our members and take forward our next five-year strategy.
"We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented board of trustees who each bring a wealth of experience from their respective positions in trusts, reflecting the whole span of CST membership. We are stronger for this expertise and breadth in our governance.”
