Landmark national survey of academy trusts launched

A landmark survey of England’s academy trusts has been launched today to build a detailed picture of life in education across the country.

The National school trust Survey is organised by the Confederation of School Trusts, the sector body and membership organisation for trusts, together with Edurio, leaders in school stakeholder feedback.

Hundreds of trust chief executives are expected to take part in the survey, which is open to all trusts nationally and covers education, people strategy, governance, finance and sustainability, and civic benefit.

This year is the second year the survey has been run, with the inaugural survey report delivering a unique picture of the state of the country’s schools and trusts.

CST Chief Executive Leora Cruddas CBE said: "With more than half of the country’s children in schools run by trusts, it is vital that we understand the needs and priorities of school trusts and the work they are doing to deliver an excellent education for every child. We are grateful to Accounting Officers for contributin to this important work.”

Ernest Jenavs, Co-Founder of Edurio said, "As a sector, we are strongest when we can learn from each other and have a shared voice. We are proud to support CST in this important national research that will bring together the views of all trust leaders. We look forward to sharing the results with CST, trust and school leaders and policymakers.”

The survey is open to every trust in England from June 5 to July 14 2023. Trusts that take part will receive a personalised report outlining their responses against the sector benchmark.

Chief executives of CST member trusts will receive a direct email invitation. Non-member trusts can register to take part at: https://home.edurio.com/survey/cst-survey-23

The survey findings are expected to be published in the autumn, and will help shape CST’s work connecting, supporting, and advocating for the school trust sector.
