Leora Cruddas, chief executive of CST said: “The current uncertainty and series of U-turns is extremely hard for students, schools and trusts. We accept that in the context of a global pandemic, there is no perfect solution. However, the uncertainty is simply unacceptable.
"Qualifications cannot be brought into disrepute in this way. School and trust leaders are left managing impossible situations.
"We need a clear and positive resolution at the earliest opportunity – one that seeks remedy for those A-level students who have unfairly lost university places. Action must also be taken to ensure that there is confidence in the GCSE results ahead of next week."
