CST statement on Ofsted response to Prevention of Future Deaths report

Ofsted has today published a response to a Prevention of Future Deaths report issued by HM Coroner following the inquest into the death of Ruth Perry.

Confederation of School Trusts Chief Executive Leora Cruddas CBE said: "This response to the coroner's report and the dialogue we have had so far with Sir Martyn indicates that Ofsted is open to change and is taking sensible steps to improve and be more empathetic and respectful. Ofsted’s response does not address every aspect of change – but the proposals about what comes next are very important. More substantial reforms need to be carefully considered and discussed.

"We will continue working with Ofsted and with our members to shape the future of inspection. It is also important that future reforms consider the wider accountability system, not just inspection."
