Astor Bannerman are a leading UK manufacturer of specialist care and handling equipment and have been improving washing & showering and changing & patient transfer experiences for over 30 years. Our ethos is to improve the lives of disabled people from birth throughout life, in a manner that promotes independence, dignity and well-being, taking daily care beyond routine.
With a reputation for innovative, high-quality products backed up by a superior standard of customer service, we have been successfully working with Schools, the NHS, social services and care homes for many years and employ a team with in-depth expertise of the health and social care industries. We also work closely with architects and building contractors to install changing places toilets and hygiene rooms, making schools and public places more accessible. Our fully trained and qualified engineers and in-house customer service team provide seamless ongoing support nationwide.
We encourage independent living by helping our customers to overcome common barriers and supporting them to live their lives as fully as possible. Our aim is simple - to design, manufacture, install and service products that improve lives.

We are one of the major partners supporting School Trusts to review and address their accessibility needs through hygiene and hoist equipment. We strive to raise awareness of the Department for Education guidelines BB103 and BB104 highlighting the requirement for both SEND and mainstream schools to include a hygiene room in their new build or major update plans. Through a RIBA accredited CPD, we share both these and other guidelines for how schools can include equipment to support all students to access the toilet and changing facilities they need. Specifically, we work with schools, understanding budget and space constraints, to find workable solutions to support current and future student needs.

Astor Bannerman are one of the leading advice points and suppliers of equipment into schools and universities, following their role in supporting the Changing Places Toilet campaign. We do not simply supply and sell products - we work to advocate for the need of better inclusion in schools and education settings beyond the curriculum support. Having the correct physical and practical environment is the starting point of inclusion. We have worked with education settings for many years, understanding budget and space restrictions to find actionable solutions that mean their schools can be truly accessible. By solving some of the practical issues, we are supporting pupils with physical and neuro diverse disabilities to fairly access education that they are quite capable and desire to engage in.
