In this seminar, Jack Worth, lead author of NFER’s Racial Diversity in the Teacher workforce research and Natasha Armstrong, NFER’s Head of Impact Strategy presented findings from the report which explores the under-representation and career progression opportunities for teachers from ethnic minority backgrounds.
The research looks across the teacher career pipeline from applications to initial teacher training, recruitment, retention, and progression into senior positions, including becoming head-teachers, to identify where in the pipeline the issues are arising within the system. These insights will support the sector to think about where to direct attention and consider potential ways of moving things forward, which formed a key part of the discussion in this seminar.
