The 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) outcomes have been published. Run by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Pisa tests assess teenagers on their ability to solve problems, think critically and communicate, before asking them a wider range of questions about their education in a questionnaire.
The national report for England has been published by the Department for Education.
Confederation of School Trusts Chief Executive Leora Cruddas CBE said: “The latest PISA report is testament to the hard work of children and staff across the country.
"While there is always more work to do, particularly in closing disadvantage and gender gaps, we should recognise the continued and sustained improvement of our state schools over several years.
"Our school system is on a journey from good to great, and we should celebrate the work of children, teachers, support staff, and leaders as we look ahead to the next chapter for English schools.”
