Working with your board: Governance for executive leaders

This course explores governance from the perspective of executives: those responsible for leading the organisation day-to-day, translating strategy into action, and providing the assurance boards need to fulfil their responsibilities effectively. How do you develop a positive working relationship with your board (esp. your chair)? How do you draft an effective board report? How do you design KPIs that measure what you value and drive improvement rather than encouraging poor behaviours and unintended consequences? How do you get the most out of board meetings?

Drawing on CST's governance thought leadership and practical examples from across the sector, we will explore how executive leaders can increase the ROI on governance, support good decision-making, build effective relationships with trustees, create meaningful assurance, and maintain clear accountability throughout the organisation. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the behaviours and systems that enable governance to add value rather than create bureaucracy and fluffload.
