Flourishing adults for flourishing pupils at heart of new partnership

Getting the right staff is crucial to helping pupils flourish in our schools and is at the heart of a new partnership between the Confederation of School Trusts and leading talent advisors Anderson Quigley.

Recruitment and retaining high-quality staff are long-standing issues in education, both in academic and operational roles. Yet having successful adults who flourish in their roles is a crucial building block for allowing the children they serve to achieve their best.

AQ has a deep-rooted understanding of schools and trusts, including the impact they have on not just their pupils but also their local communities. This has allowed their teams to develop open, transparent, and trusted partnerships with schools, providing practical, candid, and constructive advice and support around leadership talent.

Working with AQ, CST will make it easier for school trusts around the country to tap in to this expertise, accessing bespoke approaches to recruiting and developing leaders.

This includes personalised services and processes for each organisation and leader, taking time to gain real insight and understand the challenges being faced, and how they can be resolved.

The new partnership is part of the Confederation's platinum partner scheme, which brings together leading education-focused organisations and CST’s members, together responsible for the education of nearly four million young people.

CST Chief Executive Leora Cruddas CBE said: "People are the life blood of any organisation, but that is especially true in school trusts where the relationships between colleagues, and their interactions with pupils, can make such an immense difference to the lives of children and their communities.

“Recruitment decisions can be some of the most far-reaching ones that trust leaders make, so having trusted access to expert advice and guidance on how to recruit and develop staff is extremely valuable.”

Anderson Quigley Partner and Schools Lead Hayley Mintern said: “We believe education makes for a better society, so we are delighted to have been selected as one of CST’s Platinum Partners and to work together to build representative and strong school leaders.

“Our partnership with CST is a union of shared purpose and bold ambition, to ensure we support the leaders of the future as the sector continues to evolve.”

When helping to find leaders, AQ can assist in finding board, executive and senior leaders across all functional areas, leverage their extensive and diverse networks, identifying people who have both the relevant experience and values to support and deliver both short- and long-term objectives, whether that be permeant or interim positions.

They also have a trusted and experienced network of associates who can offer extensive support and advice, whether that be independent complaint panel members, appraisal delivery, organisational structure, financial benchmarking, or bespoke coaching, mentoring and development programmes. They understand the full range of support leaders need to navigate the future, and to support your schools, staff and pupils to thrive.
