The new Child Protection Authority

Join safeguarding colleagues for a briefing on the government’s plans for a new Child Protection Authority (CPA).

We are delighted to welcome two speakers from the Department for Education: Shazia Hussain, Director of Children's Social Care and Felicity Allen, Deputy Director of Child Protection. They will share insights into the new authority and what it means for the sector. This session is a valuable opportunity for members to hear directly from the team leading this work and share with the department our community's own expertise and experiences.

In December 2025, the government launched its consultation on the proposed CPA, which, according to the government, will be “tasked with identifying emerging threats and driving accountability across the system.” The consultation closes on 5 March, and CST will be submitting a formal response. Your feedback during this meeting will help shape that.
