Executive Director for Research and Best Practice, National Institute of Teaching

Calum is the Executive Director for Research and Best Practice. He joined from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he focused on evaluations of complex interventions in health, disability-inclusion and education. Calum also spent a year at the Education Endowment Foundation and remains a member of its Evaluation Advisory Group.

Director of Trust Performance, E-ACT

Peter is a highly experienced educationalist with 19 years of experience across a range of settings. Peter has both substantial trust and academy leadership experience with a focus on data systems, assessment, performance, raising achievement and examinations. Peter is experienced working across the education phases from EYFS to post-16 and is currently the Director of Trust Performance for E-Act. Peter is a passionate advocate that data processes should provide high quality and timely information to practitioners in an easy to interpret format so that they can inform evidence-based decision making and can be used to maximise student experiences.

Peter is currently leading the development and implementation of a trust wide KS3 assessment system at E-Act with the CAB, LAB and PAB leads at E-Act.

Shaun is the Director of Data for the National Institute of Teaching and has over 15 years’ experience working in education. He has previously held roles as Director of Systems and Data and Head of Digital Resources and Delivery within North East multi academy trust’s, leading on the strategic implementation of digital and data infrastructure.

Head of Data Quality, Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust

Nick has a history of applying advanced analytical skills in challenging scenarios, with a proven track record spanning both high-pressure combat environments with the British Army and more recently in education with Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust based in Middlesbrough.
As the Head of Data at NPCAT, he played a pivotal role in the initial centralisation efforts of a fledgling 25 school trust that has since grown to 38 schools, streamlining diverse data practices and systems with limited resources to help shape intelligence led decision making. Nick's accomplishments include the formulation of the Trust's data strategy, the assembly of a highly regarded central data team, diagnostic business intelligence products across all areas and the implementation of cost-effective cloud data systems.

Trust Data Officer, Greenwood Academies Trust

Sam Gray is GAT’s Trust Data Manager charged with analysing assessment, attendance and exclusions data for the whole Trust. Sam has been with the Trust since 2018 and has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of educational administration with the last 12 years being dedicated to data management. Sam has been a proficient user of the SIMS database for 20 years and also has 11 years’ experience of using SISRA for secondary data analysis.

Head of Partnerships, FFT

Andrew Hill has worked for over 20 years in the school sector to help improve educational outcomes. With a background in teaching, Andrew has worked in schools, local authorities and the Department for Education. He also has commercial experience of running his own school training business.

As Head of Partnerships at FFT, Andrew now works directly with trusts and schools, ensuring that they can make the best use of FFT’s range of data systems and literacy programmes.

Head of Data Analytics, Consilium Academies

Gary has worked in secondary education for over 13 years, with the last four being part of the central team at Consilium Academies leading the data & exams team across nine schools and serving 6,500 students. With a background in computer science and software engineering, Gary is passionate about using modern and innovative approaches to provide actionable insights to students, parents, teachers, and leaders at all levels across the trust. Having grown up in an ex-mining town on the coast of Northeast England, Gary is particularly invested in maximising the life chances of disadvantaged students.

With more than 30 years experience in the education sector, Tina brings a wealth of expertise in system management, change implementation and project development.

Director of Information Strategy, Advance Learning Partnership

As a leader in educational data, Laura has more than 12 years of experience in developing and implementing data-driven solutions that support strategic goals, business decisions and school improvement. She currently leads the Data department and oversees the Governance & Compliance and Marketing & Publicity functions, ensuring cross-departmental collaboration and high-quality delivery of products and services.

She is a Chartered Manager and Level 7 qualified, having completed the Strategic Leadership Diploma from the Chartered Management Institute in 2021.

Laura leads data community events and champions collaboration to enhance products and performance. She is passionate about data literacy, innovation and the implementation and delivery of strategies ensuring successful and sustained impact, with the aim of improving the life chances of future generations.

Founder and Director, Merrick-Ed Limited

Founder and Director of Merrick-Ed Limited, Victoria’s education consultancy practice is underpinned by 19 years’ experience of leading and teaching in the East Midlands, UK. Her impact as ‘Trust Lead for Assessment, Exams and Progression’ and ‘Trust Data Strategy Lead’, have directly improved outcomes for students across all phases; EYFS to Sixth Form. Working with schools and trusts across the UK, Victoria is supporting leaders to devise, implement and sustain robust school improvement strategies, informed by sophisticated use of data and information to identify challenges, understand school contexts and select appropriate high-leverage action steps. By embedding secure curriculum and assessment principles and practice across all phases and implementing carefully selected evidence-informed research, Victoria’s approach drives up standards for all students regardless of their starting points. Victoria champions forensic use of information and data to gather insights and identify patterns, trends and areas for improvement.

Victoria speaks frequently at national and international conferences and hosts trust leadership workshops. In partnership with a number of well-known EdTech and assessment sector organisations, Victoria’s innovative approach to school improvement informs and shapes multiple digital education platforms.

Morris

Director of Transformation, Team Education Trust

Matt is the Director of Transformation for TEAM Education Trust, responsible for trust growth and development, and oversight of data across the Trust’s family of schools. He leads on partnerships and his work on data dashboards has led to a successful collaborative partnership with Schools Bi.

Matt began his teaching career 21 years ago as an English teacher, and since then has built up a wealth of experience as a senior leader in education, spanning mainstream, alternative provision and special education. Prior to taking up his current Executive role, he was a headteacher in alternative provision for eight years.

Matt has been an SLE and works with other colleagues on regional and national professional networks in SEND, inclusion and alternative provision, and regularly speaks about data, alternative provision and inclusion at national events. He is the Director of Strategic Development for PRUsAP, the national association for PRUs and APs.

Data Manager, Extend Learning Academies Network

Emma began her career at a local primary school in 2008 as a newly qualified teacher. Since then, Emma has taught children in every year group from reception to year 6. In addition to teaching, Emma worked with the senior leadership team to develop a successful assessment system that all ELAN schools adopted. The pandemic lockdown led to Emma supporting with the growing use of Office 365 as education and school business moved online.

Because of Emma’s extensive knowledge of Office 365, assessment data and the school’s tracking and reporting systems, Emma joined the central team as Data Manager to implement a new MIS (management information system) across all trust schools and manages trust data, assessment systems and reporting.

Trust Data Manager, The Bishop Fraser Trust

As the Trust Data Manager for the Bishop Fraser Trust, my role extends beyond managing and securing sensitive data. I also take charge of analysing this data, leveraging my skills as a Power BI Developer to drive insights and inform strategic decisions.
I am particularly passionate about reshaping how data is presented in education, so that the same data sets become accessible to all. We have a firm belief that data can be part of the solution of reducing workload, not adding to it. At Bishop Fraser, we try to keep the laser focus on how we can empower our teachers to use their data to make informed decisions that positively impact student outcomes, every lesson, every day.

Deputy Chief Executive, Confederation of School Trusts

Steve Rollett is Deputy Chief Executive of the Confederation of School Trusts (CST), the national organisation and sector body for school trusts in England. Before joining CST, he was Curriculum and Inspection Specialist for the Association of School and College Leaders. Steve has sat on a range of advisory bodies, including Ofsted’s curriculum advisory group. Most recently he has supported Oak National Academy and the Department for Education’s remote learning advisory group. Originally trained as a history teacher, Steve was a vice principal of one of England’s most improved secondary schools before moving into a career in education policy.

Lauren joined United Learning in September 2023 as Chief Transformation Officer. Prior to this, Lauren was the Director of Standards & Performance at Ark Schools. During her 6 years at Ark, Lauren led on data and insights, assessment, digital learning and wider education strategy, as well as the trust’s approach to supporting school improvement through monitoring, co-ordinating central education services and evaluating the impact of strategic priorities. Prior to joining Ark, Lauren was the Principal of a secondary free school in South East London, leading the school to achieve its first GOOD rating from Ofsted. Lauren holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, a master’s degree in ICT in Education, she has sat on the DfE Ed Tech Advisory Board and Workload Review Panel and is an Ofsted Inspector.

As a Microsoft Partner he has led engagements with education ministries in Malta, Russia and Kazakhstan, has been a local leader of governance and chair in Surrey and has a prior background of 25 years in technology applications and consulting in Europe and the US.
