Our inaugural summit will explore what we are able to do as trust leaders to encourage change from the bottom-up, as well as top-down, and to secure the meaningful inclusion of every child in our schools and trust communities.

Whilst there are some system reforms underway, and there is optimism that new central policies and legislation will improve the system, there is an acknowledgement amongst the trust community that the current climate calls for action sooner rather than later.

Trusts have the potential to strengthen SEND provision across the country. They can work across their families of schools, fostering collaboration and building overall capacity.

Building on CST's five principles for inclusion paper published last year, the programme will feature insights from trust leaders, directors of inclusion, and sector experts. Discussion will explore the practical steps available to us, how to identify opportunities and develop innovative approaches to support children with SEND and their families.

At the summit you can:

  • Gain insight into SEND policy developments arising from the improvement plan
  • Explore the unique challenges in strengthening inclusive practice and SEND provision and gain practical strategies and guidance to take back to colleagues in your trust.
  • Participate in a constructive professional dialogue with your peers and leading experts.
  • Benefit from shared experiences and lessons learned to inform the approach you adopt in your own setting.
  • Connect with other CST community members to build your professional network.
