We are delighted to invite you and the Chair of your trust to a networking convention, which is being delivered by the Lancashire and West Yorkshire Regional School Commissioner’s Office alongside a number of colleagues across the governance sector including the Confederation of School Trusts (CST) and Academy Ambassadors.
The event will be held on 3rd October 2019 at Bolton Whites Hotel, Bolton (Bolton Football Club) from 10am until 3pm (registration opens at 9.30).
This convention will provide a valuable opportunity for CEOs and Chairs to collaborate on governance and best practice of MAT accountability, leading to the establishment of trust and governance leader networks. Delegates will hear from several speakers who will draw upon their own experiences and expertise regarding the landscape of education in the region (and nationally) and avenues for progression. We are pleased to confirm that Lord Agnew, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System will be one of the keynote speakers on the day, discussing the crucial role of MAT governance.
The convention will cover the following sessions on the day:
- Keynote from Vicky Beer, CBE, Regional Schools Commissioner, LWY:
Opportunities and challenges for the region
- Keynote from Leora Cruddas, Chief Executive, the Confederation of School Trusts:
A new narrative for school trusts and overview of national policy landscape
- Keynote from Academy Ambassadors: Discussing trustee recruitment
- Setting the Scene with Kate Baddeley, Deputy Director for the LWY RSC Office
- Keynote from Lord Agnew, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System:
The crucial role of MAT governance
- Q&A chaired by Kate Baddeley with Vicky Beer, Leora Cruddas and Academy Ambassadors.
There will also be opportunities throughout the day to ask any questions you may have, as well as networking opportunities with colleagues from other trusts across the region.
There are two places available per trust and lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day. The event is aimed at Chief Executive Officers and the Chair of the Trust to attend. Please note: this event is free of charge, but due to limited capacity tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
