Join CST at the Schools and Academies Show on 13 and 14 November 2019 at the NEC Birmingham.
Our CEO, Leora Cruddas will be speaking in the MAT Summit theatre on Wednesday 13 November from 12pm about ‘Civic Leadership – The Civic Role of School Trusts’. She will discuss why schools and trusts need to be part of a community which is engaged, supportive and shares objectives; how larger trusts can use their capability and capacity to act with other civic partners, as large employers in an area; how smaller trusts can work with their local authority to advance education as a public good in their community and she will explore the new narrative around civic partnerships and civic leadership against the background of deep economic and social changes happening today.
Leora will also be leading a session in the Show’s new MAT matchmaking area at 13.45 on 13 November called ‘Joining or Merging?’ This session will explore the increasing appetite in the sector for trusts to consider joining another trust or merging to order to create a group that is educationally and financially strong. Building on the efforts of the DfE’s Trust Capacity Fund, Leora will cover the strategic context, mission alignment and cultural fit – keeping focus on values and ethos. Aspects of the legal process and due diligence will also be covered.
Don’t forget to also join Emma Perkin from The Constant Group who is leading another CST session on ‘The Best Scheme of Delegation’. Emma will discuss how at the heart of achieving effective, ethical and accountable governance is a robust, honest and clear scheme of delegation. This session will look at ways of achieving this, through drawing on the collective experience of the group. Emma is speaking at 13.30 on Thursday 14 November in the MAT Matchmaking area.
CST will also have a stand – no. H56 – please come and say hello!
